Tsunami warning
The earthquake prompted US government to issue Tsunami watch for the local countries including Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), Indonesia, India and Bangladesh. The tsunami warning was cancelled a few hours later "as sea levels indicated that a significant tsunami was not generated."
In Yangon
The earthquake was felt by people in Rangoon this morning. One Rangoon (Yangon) resident reported his event:“There was strong earthquake in Yangon at 2:28 am, August 11. My condo was shaking steadily about 1 minute. I think it might be the first strong earthquake after Tsunami. It's really something. My heart is still beating.” – Nyi Lynn Seck
Another Yangon resident also writes about his experience:
“It was around 2:20 AM in Yangon. We felt the earthquake. It was quite strong. People woke up and run out of their houses. Now, it already stopped.” - Thethtoo
